Carla was born in South Africa daughter of Dutch parents who moved to South Africa in the 1950’s. She was was lucky to have an interesting childhood, living in many parts of South Africa, Kenia and Tanzania as well as visiting many parts of Europe. She speaks many languages Dutch, German, French, Afrikaans, English, and she is now living in Hamburg.
When young, whilst studying at Wits University in Johannesburg, a Bachelor in Art and Philosophy, she as scouted by a well known South African photographer. The market in SA was very small at the time, but she did an occasional campaign for the SA Wool Board and Cameo stockings apart from a number of editorials. When moving to Germany Carla then concentrated on her interior design work and her family with 3 daughters. When at the end of the 90’s she returned to South Africa, she was scouted as a mature model by the Storm Model agency. Since then her work took her all over Europe, London, Buenos Aires, LA and Miami. She was featured on covers like Brigitte, Wir magazine, did campaign for Vichy Cosmetics both in print and TV, a campaign for Patek Philippe shot by Peter Lindbergh, and a personal highlight for Douglas Parfumerie.
Besides work, Carla is a spokeswoman for the Pink Ribbon Organisation in Germany. She had very serious breast cancer in 2013 and is honored to be able to assist in this important awareness movement for the early detection of breast cancer.
